Support Author Visits to Local Schools

Funds from donations will be put towards author’s speaking fees, travel, and other expenses incurred while securing an author visit. Part of our mission is to connect authors with local K–12 students to engage with student’s curiosities about reading and writing. We plan author visits that encourage diversity, incorporate an interactive approach, and open a dialogue between the author and audience.

Diversify Classroom Libraries

Funds will also be used to diversify K–12 classroom libraries as the CCYAL would like to begin giving back to the local school community with sets of current and engaging children’s and young adult texts.

Conduct Professional Development Sessions

The CCYAL will also use donation funds to procure resources to conduct professional development workshops for local schools. The CCYAL aims to engage educators in conversations around how to increase reading motivation and engagement using children’s and young adult literature. The CCYAL can tailor professional development sessions to the needs of the school and will bring diverse resources and a hands-on approach to all workshops.
