Frequently Asked Questions

Can I check books out of the CCYAL collection?

Not at this time. Our center collection is a noncirculating collection, but you are always welcome to browse the collection in Hodges Library on the 3rd floor to see the newest titles released in YA and children’s publishing. We also keep track of our collection on our GoodReads account if you want to look from home.

Does the CCYAL conduct professional development?

Yes! We can customize a professional development session to meet the needs of your district, school, or department. This may include: creating a text set, mini “best of the best” by genre or author specific, building a classroom library on a budget, strategies for holding students accountable during independent reading, how to increase reading motivation and engagement, creating a motivating titles list, providing engaging content and lesson plans, how to make interdisciplinary connections between reading and writing, how to integrate children and picture books/YA books with state standards. Contact us at ccyal@utk.edu for a personalized quote.

How can I partner with the CCYAL to host an event or bring an author to visit?

Contact us at ccyal@utk.edu with information about a prospective event you’d like to host, which author you’d like to invite, what type of funding you have/need, a timeframe for the event, and how many attendees you’d like to invite.
